The drought is over: Pack beats Fort Lewis

CSU-Pueblo 91, Fort Lewis 68

The ThunderWolves exorcised the demons Saturday, breaking a 15-game losing streak against Fort Lewis in earth-shattering fashion, scoring a 91-68 drubbing of the Skyhawks in the Pack's home finale.

Seeking its first win over Fort Lewis since 2003, the ThunderWolves opened up with a vengeance.  The Pack trailed for exactly 25 seconds, only giving up the game's initial bucket to Fort Lewis, before scoring seven consecutive points and exactly an unlikely dominance over the Skyhawks.  CSU-Pueblo brought a 40-34 lead into halftime, and rode that high into the second half.

The Pack began the second half on a 12-3 run, opening up a 52-37 lead five minutes into the half.  Fort Lewis attempted a frantic comeback, but the Pack's penetration on offense forced a myriad of fouls, resulting in 40 trips to the line in all.  The Pack made the most of their charity opportunities, sinking 30 foul shots.

CSU-Pueblo was led by senior Marc Williams (Sr., Seattle, Wash.), who had 19 points, and Kris Lawrie (Jr., Gardena, Calif.) who had 13 points off the bench, including 7-for-10 from the line.

CSU-Pueblo will end its regular season on a four-game road trip, the first stop being at New Mexico Highlands Tuesday night.
