Pack flat in conference opener vs. Adams State

Turnovers, poor shooting kill ThunderWolves.

PUEBLO, Colo. (GoThunderWolves.com - Dec. 3, 2010) - CSU-Pueblo shot just 28 percent and had trouble stopping Adams State's effective transition game in the conference opener Friday night, losing 65-57 to the Grizzlies.

CSU-Pueblo was repeatedly victimized by Adams State's stable of point guards, which created numerous opportunities in the transition and down low, as the Pack lost an early lead five minutes into the game and never regained it.

CSU-Pueblo would get as close as two, 51-49, with 3:24 remaining, but couldn't consistently create chances down the stretch.

The numbers that decided the game all broke for Adams State - the Pack committed 20 turnovers to just 14 for Adams State, and had just eight assists to 17 for the Grizzlies.

The Pack had a few standout nights, with Daniel Pierce (Sr., Edgewood, N.M.) just missing out on his third-straight double-double, taking down 14 boards but adding just six points.  Kris Lawrie (Sr., Gardena, Calif.) had a game-high 16 points for the ThunderWolves, but contributed five turnovers.

Adams State improved to 4-0 with the win while the Pack dropped to 1-2.

The road gets no easier for the ThunderWolves as they welcome in Fort Lewis Saturday night, which is also undefeated and on the cusp of entering the NCAA Division II Top 25.
