WACO, Tex. (GoThunderWolves.com - Nov. 1, 2010) - The ThunderWolves "received votes" in the latest American Football Coaches' Association Top 25, making their eighth appearance in the last nine weeks in the poll after its 66-0 drubbing of New Mexico Highlands Saturday, the AFCA announced Monday.

CSU-Pueblo is now receiving six votes in the poll, one of 16 schools "receiving votes" in the poll, meaning one more more voters selected the ThunderWolves to be at least the 25th-ranked team in the country.

CSU-Pueblo is joined by two other RMAC teams in the AFCA poll - Nebraska-Kearney (No. 9) and Colorado Mines (No. 16).

The rankings provide little solace to RMAC squads - CSU-Pueblo was even mentioned among the top ten squads in the NCAA Division II Super Region Three rankings, also released Monday.  In fact, only one RMAC team, Nebraska-Kearney, is in the top six, with Colorado School of Mines, which has demonstrated its power in 2010, ranked eighth, meaning it will need some help to crack the top six and earn a playoff berth.

The rankings mean CSU-Pueblo (7-2, 5-2 RMAC) will have very little chance to earn one of Super Region Three's six playoff spots, as it is at least five spots away from the top region's top six.  Super Region Three includes the RMAC as well as the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference and the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, arguably the two toughest conferences in all of Division II.  Eight of the nation's top 25 teams come from Super Region Three, according to the latest poll.
