Wildman, front line tee off in dominant victory.
GUNNISON, Colo. (GoThunderWolves.com - Oct. 26,
2010) - CSU-Pueblo turned in one of their best
all-around performances of the season Tuesday, undoing a five-match
RMAC losing streak in a three-set win over Western State in
Gunnison, 25-21, 25-17 and 25-20.
Led by junior outside hitter, Alea Wildman (Jr., Denver,
Colo.), who had the best match of her career, turning in
12 kills to no errors for a .667 attack percentage, CSU-Pueblo
out-hit Western State .237 to .000. The front line was the
main difference in that discrepancy, as the Pack's nine blocks on
the night forced the Western State attack wide, resulting in 25
attack errors by the Mountaineers.
In all, CSU-Pueblo turned in 46 kills in the match, the
second-highest mark of the season in a three-set match, and saw
three players register nine kills or more - Wildman,
Bernadette Pitre (Jr., Clifton, Colo.), who had 10
kills and a .364 attack percentage, and Gina Abbott (So.,
Salinas, Calif.), who added nine kills.
CSU-Pueblo, now at 8-15 and 3-12 in RMAC play, return home
Thursday night for a match with Adams State at Massari Arena.
