Pack keeps shots to a minimum, but still can't pull off
win.
DENVER, Colo. (GoThunderWolves.com - Oct. 15,
2010) - CSU-Pueblo had a tall task in front of it in
knocking off 11th-ranked Metro State Friday and fell short of that
goal, falling 3-1 to the Roadrunners in Denver.
It marked the ThunderWolves' 14th straight loss to Metro State
(dating back to 2003) and ran their streak of games without a win
over the Roadrunners to 21 games.
CSU-Pueblo held strong for the most part, allowing just 10 shots
in the match to Metro State, the lowest output by an opponent this
season. But unfortunately, the chances Metro had were
quality, as evidenced by a long play-in ball that resulted in a
goal by Michael' Ann Karas in the 19th minute, and a goal on a
play-through ball to Nicole Pollack in the 26th minute.
Metro State went up 3-0 in the 76th minute, and the Pack was
able to avoid a shutout with a late unassisted goal in the 87th
minute by Jessa Cook (Sr., Idaho Falls,
Idaho). But it was too little, too late for the
ThunderWolves, who fall to 4-8-1 on the season with the loss and
2-6-1 in RMAC play.
CSU-Pueblo's weekend gets no easier as it faces RMAC power Regis
in Denver on Sunday.
