CSU-Pueblo musters just two shots on goal.
PUEBLO, Colo. (GoThunderWolves.com - Oct. 1,
2010) - CSU-Pueblo was only able to get two shots on goal
Friday and fell to their fourth straight loss in a 3-0 decision to
Mesa State.
The CSU-Pueblo offense was sluggish, and a lot of the miss
opportunities were due to poor decisions made on connecting passes,
Pack coach Janet Cassidy said.
"We had a slow start and couldn't connect," Cassidy said.
"We made some bad decisions in the final third of the field
and tried forcing the ball through. The second half was much
better but overall, we didn't finish our opportunities."
Defensively, the ThunderWolves had trouble stopping Maverick
chances. Mesa State uncorked 16 shots and fired eight on
goal, breaking through with a goal by Sara Islas nine minutes into
the game. Islas finished the game with two goals, capping the
scoring with a penalty-kick goal in the second half.
With the loss, the ThunderWolves fall to 3-6 on the season and
1-4 in RMAC play. CSU-Pueblo will look to halt its four-game
losing streak Sunday, when it returns to Pueblo to host New Mexico
Highlands Sunday.
