CSU-Pueblo 3, New Mexico Highlands 1
LAS VEGAS, N.M. - The Pack front line ruled the night against
New Mexico Highlands Saturday night, rebounding nicely from a loss
Friday to take a three sets to one victory over the Cowgirls.
Led by a commanding performance by Bernadette Pitre
(So., Clifton, Colo.), who recorded 17 kills and four
blocks, game highs in both categories, and Alea Wildman (So.,
Denver, Colo.), who had 14 kills, the ThunderWolf front
line was lights out.
The match nearly went in a sour direction as the Pack lost the
first set, 28-26, in a neck-and-neck affair, similar to their first
loss to Western New Mexico Friday night. Though the Pack
rolled over after losing the first set Friday, the ThunderWolves
rallied against Highlands.
Throughout the rest of the match, the ThunderWolves only trailed
once, earning wins of 25-20, 25-12 and 25-22.
With the win, CSU-Pueblo improves to 4-8 overall and 2-2 in RMAC
play. New Mexico Highlands is struggling to start the season,
falling to 1-12 and 0-4 in RMAC play.
The Pack will have a Tuesday match at Adams State before
returning home for a two-game stand vs. NAIA Johnson & Wales
Friday and Mesa State Saturday.
