UC-Colorado Springs 3, CSU-Pueblo 0

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The ThunderWolves were once again on the short end of a "Steel and Silver Series" battle with UC-Colorado Springs Thursday, falling three sets to none as the series' volleyball points were awarded to the Mountain Lions.

The Pack saw a UCCS team that was mostly flawless in the first two sets, committing just four attack errors as the Pack lost back-to-back 25-14 sets. 

But the Pack battled in the third set, stretching the set well past the 25-point threshold has both teams traded side outs before UCCS prevailed 29-27 and claimed the match sweep.

The Pack got admirable performances from not-so-usual suspects, as Randee Hayes (Fr., Littleton, Colo.) and Melissa Jones (Jr., Longmont, Colo.) led the team in kills with nine each.  The performances headlined a Pack attack that committed just 16 attack errors, the second-lowest attack error total of the season.  The ThunderWolves' .217 attack percentage was also high, the fifth-highest percentage in the 18-match season for the Pack.

The loss puts CSU-Pueblo in a big hole in the "Steel and Silver Series," the all-sports competition between CSU-Pueblo and UCCS.  CSU-Pueblo is currently trailing in the series 7-0, due to head-to-head losses in men's soccer, men's golf, and two losses in volleyball.  The Steel & Silver Series awards points to the winner of games between the schools in seven women's and three men's sports and a five-point bonus to the university whose student-athletes have the best grades. In the three years that the series has been in existence, UCCS has won the series each year.

CSU-Pueblo will head to Colorado Mines Saturday before returning home for a four-match home stand Thursday when it hosts Colorado Christian.
