Adams State 3, CSU-Pueblo 0
Despite displaying some strong defense throughout the match,
CSU-Pueblo could keep up with Adams State Tuesday, falling to the
Grizzlies in three sets.
The Pack was largely point-for-point with the Grizzlies all
night long, but late-set mistakes created Adams State's advantage.
The ThunderWolves held a 19-14 lead in the first set before
Adams State went on a 10-2 run, fueled by four CSU-Pueblo attack
errors down the stretch, as the Grizzlies took the first set 25-22.
In the second set, a 16-16 tie was broken when Adams went on a
tear, scoring seven straight points as Dominique Davis got on fire,
logging three of her 12 kills on the night as Adams prevailed 25-18
in the second set.
In the third set, the Pack started slow and never recovered,
only getting as close as 16-12 before a late rally made the final
tally a respectable 25-20.
The loss puts CSU-Pueblo's playoff hopes in dire jeopardy.
The ThunderWolves fall to 3-11 in RMAC play and 6-17 overall, and
are 4-1/2 games behind eighth-seeded Western New Mexico for the
final playoff spot with five conference games remaining.
The ThunderWolves will travel to NAIA Johnson & Wales
Thursday before resuming RMAC play Friday at Mesa State.
