Kip Drown, one of the most successful women's basketball coachesin the history of the RMAC, will enter his 10th season at the helmof the Colorado State University-Pueblo women's basketball team in2014-15.

He has already established himself as one of the top coaches inCSU-Pueblo Athletics history, regardless of sport, posting a 177-97record in nine seasons and claiming four Rocky Mountain AthleticConference championships, including three straight from2008-2010.

Drown also led the team to its first six NCAA Division IINational Tournament appearances (2006, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2012 and2014).  In three of its RMAC Championship runs, Drown'sThunderWolves teams had to win road playoff games before sweepingthrough the rest of the tournament.

Under Drown’s direction, the ThunderWolves garnered theirsecond at-large berth to the NCAA Division II Tournament in programhistory in 2013-14. The Pack equaled the program record forvictories, posting a 22-9 mark, including an 18-4 record in RMACplay.

In 2011-12, Drown's ThunderWolves posted their best regularseason record in school history (21-5) and claimed the firstat-large bid to the NCAA Division II National Tournament in programhistory.

In 2009-10, in the team's fourth trip to the NCAA Division IINational Tournament, the Pack finally broke through the glassceiling, claiming its first ever national tournament win with avictory over the region's two-seed, Wayne State.

In 2008-09, the ThunderWolves had their best season ever, going22-9 and breaking a school record for most wins in a season for thesecond consecutive year.  The ThunderWolves also earned itsthird NCAA Division II Central Regional Tournament berth in fourseasons following its 62-42 RMAC Championship win over ColoradoSchool of Mines, earning a six-seed in the 2009 tournament.

In 2007-08, the ThunderWolves went 21-10 and breaking a schoolrecord for most wins in a season.  In claiming the RMACChampionship, they swept through two fellow NCAA Tournament teams,Fort Lewis and Nebraska-Kearney, avenging earlier losses to bothteams during the 2007-08 season.

In 2006-07, CSU-Pueblo went 17-10 overall and 13-5 in conferenceplay as it won its first-ever RMAC West Division title and garneredthe number-two seed in the RMAC Tournament.

In his first season with CSU-Pueblo, he led CSU-Pueblo to a19-12 record and its first-ever Rocky Mountain Athletic ConferenceShootout crown.

Drown came to the Pack after positions at Grand Canyon, GeorgiaSouthwestern State and Southwest Baptist.

At Grand Canyon, Drown turned around the ‘Lopes program,building a team that earned a bid to the NCAA West RegionalTournament in 2003-04. In four years, he brought the team from onlyfour wins in the year before he arrived to a 16-12 record in2003-04, earning CCAA Coach of the Year Honors for his efforts.

Prior to that, Drown was the head coach at NAIA GeorgiaSouthwestern State, going 151-71 in seven years. His teams earnedfive trips to the NAIA National Tournament, and were frequentlyranked in the top 25.

The rest of Drown's head coaching resume comes from a six-yearstint at Southwest Baptist University. There, he again built afloundering program into a proven winner, earning four entries intothe MIAA Conference tournament, the first four such appearances inschool history. His team at Southwest Baptist, after fightingthrough the growing pains associated with a jump from NAIA to NCAADivision II, went on to post a 47-35 record over his last threeyears with the program, earning the school's first-ever weeklynational ranking (11th in 2001).

His 26 years as a head coach at the collegiate level, his445-324 record make Drown one of the most-experienced andwinningest women's basketball coaches in the Rocky MountainAthletic Conference.

Drown earned his bachelor's and master's degrees from SouthwestMissouri State University.

He has a wife, Gina, and five children: Christie, Cassie, Kyle,Ashlee and Laura.  Gina and Kip reside in Pueblo.
