Ray Makloski

Former Pueblo City Champion and U.S. Open Qualifier participant,Ray Makloski, is in his third year as head men's golf coach atColorado State University-Pueblo.

Under Makloski's leadership, the ThunderWolves saw successimmediately in 2006-07, finishing third in the Rocky MountainAthletic Conference and third in the Northwest Regionals. That season, Makloski coached Andrew Hedrick, who won All-Americanhonors after placing 19th at the NCAA Division II NationalTournament.

In 2007-08, the ThunderWolves turned in another third placefinish in the RMAC, and finished sixth at the NorthwestRegional.

Makloski, who played football at Adams State College where hegraduated in 1982, has qualified for 10 Colorado Opens and was the1993 Southern Colorado Open, 1998 Pueblo City, and 1998 CGA Two-ManTeam champion. He twice was named to the Colorado Cup team andparticipated in three USGA Mid-Amateur Tournaments.

As welder by trade, Makloski, who also earned a welding degree fromTrinidad State Junior College in 1978 prior to attending andplaying football at Adams State College. He is the owner andoperator of DeRouen Machine Works, which produces conveyor partsmade of steel.

Makloski, and his wife, Nina, have two children, Jimmy and Rayne.
