Paige McMahan joined the CSU-Pueblo Swimming & Diving team as an assistant coach in the summer of 2014.
McMahan’s family moved from Herndon, Va. to Pueblo West, Colo. when she was three years old. She began her competitive swimming career as a member of the Pueblo West Swim Club Stingrays when she was five years old. At age 15, she was awarded the title of South-Eastern Colorado Aquatics League Swimmer of the Year in 2007.
McMahan attended Pueblo West High School and competed in swimming all four years. She qualified for the state meet her junior and senior years. She lettered in academics, swimming, cross country and golf. She has competed in several triathlons and enjoys open water swimming. She has trained in the self-defense discipline Krav Maga and currently participates in cross-fit training.
While in high school, McMahan became the assistant coach of the Stingrays, where she worked with head coach Gwen Steves. She was awarded South-Eastern Colorado Aquatics League Coach of the Year in 2010. Paige coached the Stingrays until leaving for college, returning to help coach during summer breaks.
McMahan attended Colorado State University-Fort Collins where she studied Health and Exercise Science with a concentration in Health Promotion. She joined the women’s club water polo team her freshman year and became captain of the team during her junior year.
Her final semester at CSU was a six-month internship in Islamorada Florida at The Race Club swim camp where she worked under the direction of the camp owner, Olympian Gary Hall, Sr. McMahan learned a number of influential training techniques and drills to improve both swimming speed and efficiency while working with Gary.
