Michael Diaz was hired in September 2019 as the Assistant Athletic Director for Facilities and Events.
At CSU-Pueblo, Diaz will be responsible for overseeing and supporting athletic facilities and events, while managing game day operations, scheduling facilities, overseeing an event management team of students and interns, maintaining facilities and grounds in coordination with University Facilities Management, assisting in our facility renovation design work and planning, and submitting competitive bids to host NCAA championships and other outside events that will use CSU-Pueblo athletic facilities.
Diaz comes to the ThunderWolves after serving as a graduate assistant at Barry University in Miami Shores, Florida where he held the position of Head of Operations/Facilities.

During his time at Barry he was tasked with recruiting, hiring, training and supervising interns, work-study and volunteers for Athletics, University and outside events. Diaz managed facility reservations for all events at athletic facilities and worked with student groups, campus departments and outside organizations to schedule the events. He then created contest on Adobe Photoshop and Premiere to promote the events on social media and around campus. Diaz developed game scripts and timelines for athletic events, while overseeing the executing of the scripts and in-game promotions, including coordinating the dance and cheer teams. He also oversaw the ticket operations, athletic concession sales and the video board operation at the gymnasium (also created content for the video board). Diaz was tasked with working with public safety officers during events and to resolve any complaints or problems that arose. He coordinated locker room assignments and assisted with post-game meals on game days. Diaz also managed inventory of department apparel and distribution.Â

While serving as a graduate assistant, Diaz completed a master's in business administration and sport management in May 2019. He also completed his undergraduate degree at Barry, a member of NCAA Division II, in sport management, while competing on the Buccaneers baseball team where he served as captain from 2014-16.Â

Diaz has also gathered relatable experience working with the Miami Marlins (Marketing/Event Presentation-Aux Scoreboard Operator and Ticket Seller), Miami Heat (Sport Media Relations Assistant), Orange Bowl-Basketball (Official Statistics Crew), and the Miami Dolphins (Official Statistics Crew).
