Mark Schleif enters his fifth year as head women’s tennis coach at CSU-Pueblo and his sixth as the head men's tennis coach in 2017-18. He came to CSU-Pueblo after serving as the Director of Tennis at the Pueblo Country Club.
In his five years as the men's coach, seven athletes have earned All-RMAC singles honors, while five doubles pairs have been recognized by the conference. Eleven Pack student-athletes have earned Academic All-RMAC, which includes two Summit Award winners (Saul Shrom - 2014 and David Mould - 2016) and RMAC Academic Player of the Year (Marcelo Chaparro - 2016). Shrom also went on to earn Academic All-America honors, while he and Mould were recognized as Academic All-District award winners. The men's team won the RMAC Brechler Award in 2017, which is awarded to the school with the top GPA in each of the league's sponsored sports.
In four seasons as the women's coach, five athletes have earned singles All-RMAC awards, while four doubles partners have been recognized. Sixteen student-athletes have been named Academic All-RMAC, while Teresa Haro was named the Summit Award winner in 2014. The women's team won the RMAC Brechler Award in 2015, which is awarded to the school with the top GPA in each of the league's sponsored sports.
With numerous years experience at both the collegiate and professional levels, Schleif was an assistant professional from 1978-87 at various locations in Florida. Prior to moving to Colorado, he was the Director of Tennis at Monarch Country Club in Florida from 1989-91.
In 1991, he accepted the same position at Bow Mar Development in Denver, a position he held through 1999. After leaving the state, he returned in 2006 to serve as the Assistant Professional at the Broadmoor in Colorado Springs until accepting the position at the Pueblo Country Club in 2007.
He also brings prior coaching experience, as well, coaching at Indian River Community College in Fort Pierce, Fla. from 1981 to 1983 and at Regis Jesuit High School from 1992-94.
A graduate of Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton, Fla. in 1981, with a degree in Physical Education, he was a 2-year starter for the Owls. He also was a 2-year starter at Indian River Community College. Schleif also has numerous Pro/Am & Exhibition Appearances along with multiple singles and doubles titles.
Schleif, a licensed professional by the United States Professional Tennis Association, lives with his wife, Cindy, in Pueblo West.
