Leina Kim joined the CSU-Pueblo coaching staff in the fall of 2015 after a highly decorated playing career with the ThunderWolves. Kim concluded her career as arguably the best player in program and Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference history.
Kim was a two time WGCA All-American, garnering second-team honors in 2014 and first-team accolades in 2015. She is the only player in program history to be recognized as an all-American. Kim earned three consecutive RMAC Golfer of the Year awards, won the RMAC Women’s Golf Championship in 2015 and was named the 2013 RMAC Freshman of the Year. She was tabbed the RMAC Women’s Golfer of the Week and impressive 13 times in three years.
KIm finished her career with a RMAC Championship single-round record mark of 6-under 66 and also holds the RMAC record for a low round in any tournament with the same score. She set a RMAC Championship record with a total score of 135 in 2015, which was two strokes behind her own record of 133 for all tournaments. During her career, Kim won eight tournament crowns, including five in 2014-15 and three in 2013-14.
Following the conclusion of the 2014-15 season, Kim owned the nation’s best scoring average at 73.2. She won five tournaments during the year en route to her third consecutive RMAC First-Team All-Conference honor. She placed third at the NCAA West Regional after carding a 54-hole score of 5-over 221. Making her second appearance in the NCAA Division II Women’s Golf Championship, Kim posted a mark of 18-over 306 to finish 12th overall.
As a freshman, Kim became the first player in program history to earn WGCA all-region honors after qualifying for the NCAA Division II National Championships as an individual. She finished 28th individually at nationals, carding a 20-over-par score over four rounds.
