Beau Fresquez, a Colorado State University Pueblo alum and former student-athlete, was named the Interim Head Tennis Coach in September.

“We are grateful for Beau’s willingness to step in and provide a quality experience to our student-athletes on such short notice,” said CSU Pueblo Director of Athletics Dr. Paul Plinske. “This year will be highly unusual in many aspects, but we remain focused on providing developmental opportunities for our student-athletes so that they can improve their game, while performing at a high level in the classroom and growing as individuals. Beau comes highly regarded and will be a great coach for our team. We are excited to have him involved.”

"I’m very excited to return to the Pack and I look forward to working with student-athletes again," Fresquez said. "I’m excited for the opportunity to bring leadership to the team and I hope I can instill my passion and knowledge of the game to the Pack."

Fresquez graduated from CSU Pueblo in 2010 after a successful playing career that included All-Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference First Team Doubles and Second Team Singles honors in 2009. As a senior, he helped the ThunderWolves to the NCAA Division II Central Region Championships. The Pack picked up an opening round victory at the regional championships, which marked the program’s first NCAA postseason win since 2004. He was runner-up in doubles play at the 2008 ITA North Central Regional. He also earned RMAC Player of the Week recognition during his collegiate career.

Fresquez returned to the Pack for the 2014-15 and 2015-16 seasons as an assistant coach for both the ThunderWolves men’s and women’s tennis programs. He assisted with player recruitment, development and retention. Fresquez also organized travel plans, player statistics and assisted with fundraising. During his two seasons, the programs combined for seven All-RMAC awards, while the Pack totaled 11 academic honors, which included Marcelo Chaparro earning RMAC Men’s Tennis Academic Player of the Year. The ThunderWolves hosted the RMAC Championships at Pueblo City Park in both his seasons as assistant coach.

A Pueblo native, Fresquez is currently the Tennis Coordinator with the City of Pueblo Parks and Recreation. He organizes lessons, leagues and tournaments at the Pueblo City Park Tennis Courts, while maintaining positive relationships with outside organizations, like the Colorado High School Activities Association, local school districts and the CSU Pueblo tennis program. He is also responsible for sponsorship and fundraising.

Since 2008, Fresquez has devoted his career to providing athletic and recreational opportunities for youth. During his undergraduate work and following graduation he was a Sports Program Associate at the YMCA of Pueblo from June 2008 to April 2011. He then moved to Arizona where he served as the Sports, Fitness and Recreation Coordinator for the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Scottsdale. He returned to Pueblo in 2012 and was the Aquatics Coordinator for the City of Pueblo until taking over as the Tennis Coordinator in September of 2013.

Fresquez owns a bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science, Health Promotion and Recreation with an emphasis in Community/Commercial Recreation.
