Tyrell Smith serves as an Assistant Track & Field Coach at Colorado State University Pueblo, working with the sprints, horizontal jumps, relays, hurdles, and multi-event athletes.
Smith brings an interactive and expressive coaching style, emphasizing discipline, accountability, and consistent effort. He values clear communication and athlete engagement while creating an environment that supports growth, confidence, and competitive focus.

A former collegiate athlete at CSU Pueblo, Smith competed in the 60m, 100m, 200m, and 400m, as well as the relay events. He earned three NCAA All-American honors during his collegiate career.

Smith is committed to developing well-rounded student-athletes through individualized training, technical progression, and race execution. In addition to his coaching responsibilities, he assists with recruiting, athlete mentorship, and program operations. He takes pride in contributing to a disciplined, competitive team culture and preparing athletes for success both on the track and beyond.

During his first season as a Coach in 2025-26, Smith helped coach two National Champions... the Women's DMR Squad, along with Caleb McLeod in the Outdoor 1500m.
