In May of 2019, Colorado State University-Pueblo Head Men’s Basketball Coach Matt Hammer hired Dontae Bryant as his assistant after the pair worked together for a season at Sheridan College.

"I'm extremely excited to be having Dontae join me here at Colorado State University-Pueblo,” Hammer said. “He has everything you look for in an assistant coach, and I know our student-athletes will enjoy learning from him in the future."

Bryant was the assistant men’s basketball coach for Hammer at Sheridan last season where he helped with the planning, directing and coaching of a Generals team that posted a 31-4 record and reached the national tournament. He monitored academic performance, ran individual training sessions and recruited. Bryant also scheduled team travel for both the men’s and women’s programs.

Prior to his season at Sheridan, Bryant was the assistant men’s basketball coach at Arizona Western College for a year where he had similar duties. AT AWC, Bryant helped the Matadors to a 23-10 record, as well as a Region 1 Championship.

He brings some youth head coaching experience from the Portland Basketball Club where he coaches 15-and-under, and 17-and-under teams from May 2016 to August 2017. Bryant also has experience working with youth as an In-School Coordinator for Self Enhancement, Inc.

Bryant was a captain for the Eastern Arizona College men’s basketball team where he helped lead the team to the national tournament where the team placed fifth. He was also a captain at University of San Francisco men’s basketball program. He graduated with a bachelor’s degree in 2010 from USF.
