Mark Haering

After serving as defensive quality control for three seasons, Mark Haering enters his sixth season coaching wide receivers for the ThunderWolves.

Two Pack wide receivers have earned NFL opportunities in the last four years under Haering. In 2016, Larry Clark earned a tryout with the Arizona Cardinals and was awarded with an undrafted free agent contract with the team and attended the organization’s training camp.

In 2015, Kieren Duncan went on to earn All-American honors and signed an undrafted free agent contract with the NFL’s Chicago Bears. Since, Duncan was signed to the practice squad of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers of the Canadian Football League and participated in the CFL’s Ottawa Redblacks training camp.

Nick Williams earned All-RMAC Honorable Mention accolades in 2019 after he finished eighth in the RMAC in receiving yards with 684. He brought down 43 receptions for 15.9 yards per catch and added four touchdowns.

Two wide receivers were named All-RMAC Honorable Mention in 2017, as senior Osha Washington and sophomore Ammon Johnson were recognized.

Coached at Marin Catholic H.S., located in Kentfield, Calif., as a football assistant for two years (1992-93) before taking the reins of the football program for four years (1994-97). He was a three-time Marin County Athletic League Coach of the Year (1994, 96, 97). Haering also was the assistant track coach for six years (1993-98) and basketball assistant for a season (1992-93).

Haering moved back home to Pueblo in 1998 to become the head football coach for his alma mater, Pueblo South H.S. During his 12 seasons (1998-2009), Haering was named Foothills League Coach of the Year (2000, 05, 07), All-State Football Coach (2001) and NFHS Coaches Association Football Coach of the Year for Colorado (2007). The Colts compiled a 109-29 (.790) record and made 10 state playoff appearances, which included runs to the Class 4A state semifinals in 2003 and 2004. South posted nine consecutive Foothills League titles from 2000-08 and four consecutive 10-0 regular seasons from 2005-08, a feat unmatched in Pueblo history.

Haering served as a graduate assistant coach at Wisconsin for the 2010 and 2011 seasons before joining the Pack.

He attended to Boston University, where he graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1992. Hearing, a quarterback, earned a full four-year (1988-91) scholarship. He obtained a MA in Education from Lesley University in 2004.

He resides in Pueblo with wife, Georgiann, and twin daughters.
