Caid Faske is entering his third season with The Pack as the program's Defensive Coordinator. Along with being the Defensive Coordinator, Faske will also coach the Defensive Ends for the second straight season after coaching the Linebackers during the 2023 season.
In Faske’s two seasons as Defensive Coordinator, the defense has been ranked back-to-back years in the Top 20 in multiple defensive categories. During his two seasons at the helm of the defense, The Pack averaged 9 Wins per season and have 4 Top 25 Wins as a team. The Pack defense is known nationally for its aggressive attacking scheme, physically dominant mindset, relentless effort, elite discipline, blue-collar mentality, and brotherhood.
In 2024, the Pack defense was one of the most disruptive and dominant defenses in the nation. The Pack Defense ranked in the Top 20 in multiple categories. The Pack Defense finished ranked #4 nationally in Sacks with 40. Ranked #14 Nationally in Tackles for Loss with 87. Ranked #9 Nationally in Turnovers Gained. Ranked #7 Nationally in Interceptions. They also ranked in the Top 35 nationally in 3rd-down defense at 32%. The Pack Defense gave up 20 Points Per Game during the 2024 season while averaging 75 plays a game on defense. The Pack Defense played an average of 14 series per game during the season and averaged a 75% Stop Rate (Including Turnovers, Turnovers on Downs, and 3-and-out stops). The Pack Defense averaged 6 Three-&-Outs per game also. 
In 2024, the CSU Pueblo Football Team finished the year 10-2 with its two losses coming by a combined six points to two Top 10 programs. The Pack finished the year ranked #8 Nationally, earning the #1 Seed in their region and secured a first-round playoff bye. The Pack Defense produced 15 All-Conference selections, 2 All-Region honorees (Donovan English & Daniel Bone), and 1 All-American (Daniel Bone). Senior Defensive End – Makeah Scippio also was nominated for the 2024 Gene Upshaw Division II Lineman of The Year.
In 2023, his first season leading The Pack Defense, Faske's Defense finished in the Top 25 Nationally in Red Zone Defense, finished in the Top 20 Nationally in Third Down Defense (33 percent), Top 20 Nationally and second in the RMAC in Tackles for Loss with 82. The Pack was also in the Top 15 Nationally in Turnovers Gained with 24 as they had 13 interceptions and 11 fumble recoveries. The Pack Defense also ranked Top 10 in The Nation in Sacks and led the RMAC with 36 sacks.
Faske's defense in 2023 also had the RMAC Defensive Freshman of the Year in linebacker Gary Seidenberger. The Pack Defense also had 10 All-RMAC selections and an All-American in defensive back Daniel Bone III.
Faske came to CSU Pueblo after spending the past five seasons as the Defensive Ends Coach at NCAA FCS member Stephen F. Austin State University. In 2019, Faske was tabbed by the American Football Coaches Association as a Top 35 Coach Under 35 Years Old, a prestigious honor given to promising up-and-coming coaches. He was also responsible for recruiting in the DFW Metroplex area. While at SFA, Coach Faske mentored & coached BJ Thompson who went on to be a 5th Round Draft Pick by The Kansas City Chiefs in the 2023 NFL Draft. While at SFA, Faske coached 4 All-Conference Defensive Ends, and 2 All-Americans. Ranked Top 3 Nationally in Sacks and TFLS in 2021. Top 20 in multiple categories in 2021 & 2022. Helped lead SFA to the National FCS Playoffs in 2021 and won the WAC Conference Championship in 2022. During his 4 years at SFA, Faske’s defensive end unit seasonally averaged 94 Tackles, 14 Sacks, 26 Tackles for Loss, and 2.5 Forced Fumbles.

Prior to going to SFA, Faske was the Defensive Line Coach at Texas A&M University-Commerce from 2015-18. In 2018, his Defensive Line with the Lions was one of the Top units in the country. The Lions had the best pass defense in the Lone Star Conference and was second in rushing defense and finished in the Top 25 nationally in total defense. The defense was also in the Top 10 in sacks and was nationally ranked in third-down defense.
During the 2017 NCAA Division II national championship season, Faske's defensive line was one of the top units in the nation. The team had the best pass defense and was second in rushing defense in the LSC and finished 26th in the nation in total defense. The team also finished 20th in Division II in red zone defense and held opponents to just 3.1 yards per carry. The Lions had five different linemen record at least three sacks and had three with at least five sacks. Norman Moimoi led the team with 6.5 sacks.
In 2016, A&M-Commerce ranked fourth in the LSC in rush defense, holding runners to less than four years per carry. The team finished second in the league and 23rd nationally in red zone defense. The team was 15th overall in scoring defense and was second in the nation in defensive touchdowns scored. The Lions also ranked fourth nationally in interceptions and was first overall in takeaways.
The 2015 season saw A&M-Commerce finish ranked 23rd nationally in rushing defense. The Lions led the LSC in rush defense, scoring defense, total defense and was second in sacks. In 2014, he coached two All-LSC performers and two Honorable Mention All-LSC performers on the defensive line.
Before working at Texas A&M-Commerce, Faske spent part of the spring of 2015 at North Texas as a defensive assistant, assisting with recruiting and helping coach the defensive line.
Prior to his brief stint at North Texas, Faske spent three seasons at West Texas A&M University, where he coached the Buffs' defensive line and recruited the West Texas area.
Faske joined the coaching staff at West Texas A&M after his playing career for the Buffs was cut short due to health issues. During his first year on staff, Faske coached 3 First-Team All-LSC defensive linemen Aaron Wampler, Ethan Westbrooks and Tyrell Higgins. Both Higgins & Westbrooks received All-American honors after the 2012 season. in 2012.
Under his tutelage in 2012, Faske helped Westbrooks lead the nation in sacks with 19.5 as he was the Daktronics National Defensive Player of the Year. The West Texas defense recorded 59 sacks as a team to lead all of Division II. Current SFA head coach Colby Carthel was the defensive coordinator in 2012 for the Buffs.
In his coaching career, Faske has positionally coached 28 All-Conference players, 6 All-Americans, multiple All-Region selections and a National Defensive Player of the Year. In his two years as a Defensive Coordinator, he has had 25 All-RMAC Conference players, multiple All-Region players and 2 All Americans.
Faske, a native of Bushland, Texas, attended Bushland High School where he was an All-District offensive and defensive lineman as a senior. As a junior he helped lead the team to a 15-1 record and a State Championship game berth. He earned his Bachelor's Degree in Sports Exercise Science from West Texas A&M University and earned his Master's Degree in Athletic Administration from Texas A&M-University Commerce.
He and his wife Shylo, who are high school sweethearts have been married since June 2014. They are the proud parents of 3 beautiful kids. Two daughters, Aniston and Leighton, and a son Cooper.
