PUEBLO, Colo. – The Colorado State University Pueblo women's soccer team suffered a narrow 1-0 loss against Lubbock Christian Sunday at Art & Lorraine Gonzales Stadium.
The ThunderWolves (1-2-1) generated plenty of opportunities throughout the nonconference contest, finishing with a 15-14 advantage in total shots. CSU Pueblo put six attempts on frame, while Lubbock Christian recorded eight shots on goal.
Neither side was able to break through during the opening 45 minutes. The Pack held a 6-3 advantage in shots during the first half and forced LCU goalkeeper Emma Wright into three saves. Maya Bethelmie and Jenna Elledge each put early chances on target, but Wright kept the match scoreless heading into halftime.
Lubbock Christian (3-1) increased the pressure following the break and eventually found the game's lone goal in the 61st minute. Trinity Doom scored at the 60:21 mark off an assist from Journey Curs to give the Lady Chaps a 1-0 advantage.
CSU Pueblo continued to push for the equalizer and recorded nine shots during the second half. Faith Moa put an attempt on frame in the 73rd minute, but Wright made the save to preserve LCU's one-goal advantage.
Bethelmie and Elledge paced the Pack attack with three shots apiece and two shots on goal each. Moa and Nadia Bailey each added two attempts, while Solange Depirou recorded one shot on goal.
In goal, Peppi Niemi turned in another strong performance for the ThunderWolves, playing all 90 minutes and making seven saves against 14 Lubbock Christian shots.
The Pack finished with a 15-14 edge in shots, while LCU held an 8-6 advantage in shots on goal and an 8-1 advantage in corner kicks.

CSU Pueblo now hits the road for a two-match trip to Kansas. The ThunderWolves will play Friday at Emporia State before traveling to Wichita for a Sunday matchup against Newman.
