PUEBLO, Colo. — The CSU Pueblo men's soccer team continues its climb up the national rankings, as the ThunderWolves moved up five spots to No. 8 in the latest United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division II Top 25 Poll, released Tuesday.
The No. 8 ranking marks another jump for the Pack after sitting at No. 13 in last week's national poll. CSU Pueblo has steadily climbed the rankings throughout September after entering the national poll at No. 22 on Sept. 8, moving to No. 21 the following week and then jumping eight spots to No. 13 last Tuesday.
In addition to cracking the national Top 10, the ThunderWolves moved up to No. 2 in the latest United Soccer Coaches South Central Region rankings. The Pack was ranked third in the region last week after previously sitting fourth in each of the Sept. 8 and Sept. 15 regional polls.
CSU Pueblo enters the week with an unbeaten 7-0-1 overall record following a challenging stretch of three consecutive road matches. The ThunderWolves opened that stretch with a 3-1 nonconference victory at Fort Lewis before beginning Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference play with a 2-0 win at Westminster. The Pack then battled Colorado Mesa to a 1-1 draw Sunday in Grand Junction, with Matty Parkes scoring the equalizer on a penalty kick in the 70th minute.
The ThunderWolves now return to Art & Lorraine Gonzales Stadium for the beginning of a four-match homestand. CSU Pueblo welcomes Regis University on Friday, Oct. 2 at 7 p.m. before hosting South Dakota Mines on Sunday, Oct. 4.
