ANDOVER, Kan. – The Colorado State University Pueblo women's golf team opened play at the MIAA Preview on Monday, sitting in ninth place out of 15 teams following the opening round at Terradyne Country Club.
The ThunderWolves posted a 13-over-par 297 in their second tournament of the 2026 fall season. CSU Pueblo was originally scheduled to compete elsewhere this week, but a late change to the schedule just before the start of the season led the Pack to join the field at the MIAA Preview, hosted by Newman University.
CSU Pueblo sits 10 shots behind tournament leader Southwestern Oklahoma State, which opened the tournament with a three-over-par round.
Terradyne Country Club, regarded as one of the premier courses in Kansas, provided a stern test for the field with its rolling rye grass fairways, numerous sand and grass bunkers and bent grass greens. The course has been recognized by both Golf Digest and Golfweek and was named the Best Golf Course in Wichita in 2023 by The Wichita Eagle.
CSU Pueblo was led by Yale Lee, who continued her strong start to the season by firing a one-over-par 72. Lee sits tied for 11th individually following an even-par 36 on both the front and back nine.
Lisa Ekberg finished just one shot behind Lee with a two-over-par 73 and enters the final round tied for 19th. Ekberg opened with a one-under-par 35 on the front nine before carding a 38 over her final nine holes.
Olivia Heard and Sinead Ni Cheilleachair each added five-over-par rounds of 76 to round out the Pack's counting scores. Both golfers sit tied for 42nd heading into Tuesday's final round.
Heard recorded a 39 on the front nine before closing with a two-over-par 37 on the back. Her round included a birdie on the par-3 17th hole.
Ni Cheilleachair made the turn at one-over following a 37 on the opening nine and finished with a 39 on the back. She played her first eight holes in one-over-par before finishing the opening round at five-over.
Aoife Browne rounded out the CSU Pueblo lineup with an eight-over-par 79 and is tied for 67th. Browne bounced back from a 42 on the front nine with a two-over-par 37 coming home, including birdies on Nos. 12 and 16.
Southwestern Oklahoma State owns the tournament lead at three-over-par, followed by Wayne State at four-over and Missouri Southern at six-over. Nebraska Kearney sits fourth at nine-over, while Northwest Missouri State and Washburn are tied for fifth at 10-over.
The ThunderWolves will return to Terradyne Country Club on Tuesday for the final round of the MIAA Preview.
