SHERIDAN, Wyo. – The Colorado State University Pueblo women's golf team remains in contention heading into the final round of the Travis Roy Memorial after completing Monday's second round at Powder Horn Golf Club.
The ThunderWolves sit in third place at 40-over-par through 36 holes, just eight shots behind tournament leader Westmont College at 32-over and three strokes behind second-place Westminster at 37-over.
CSU Pueblo followed its opening-round 17-over performance with a 23-over-par 311 on Monday.
Lisa Ekberg highlighted the second round for the ThunderWolves, firing a 1-under-par 71 to climb four spots into second place on the individual leaderboard.
Ekberg opened her round with a 1-under 35 and played the back nine at even-par 36 to post the Pack's only under-par round of the day. After opening the tournament with a 3-over 75, Ekberg sits at 2-over-par through 36 holes heading into Tuesday's final round.
Yale Lee remains inside the top five individually after posting a 6-over-par 78 on Monday. Lee carded matching 3-over 39s on the front and back nine and sits tied for fifth at 7-over-par overall following rounds of 73 and 78.
Sinead Ni Cheilleachair provided another counting score for CSU Pueblo with an 8-over-par 80. Ni Cheilleachair shot a 5-over 41 on her opening nine before improving with a 3-over 39 coming home. She sits tied for 20th at 16-over-par for the tournament.
Sofia Contreras turned in the Pack's fourth counting score with a 10-over-par 82. Contreras improved significantly on her back nine, following a 44 on the front with a 2-over-par 38 over her final nine holes. She moved up six spots into a tie for 49th at 31-over-par overall.
Olivia Heard posted a 12-over-par 84 in the second round and sits tied for 24th at 17-over-par through 36 holes. Heard opened with a 4-over 40 before finishing with a 44 on the back nine.
Aoife Browne did not record a second-round score Monday.
CSU Pueblo's second-round team score was made up of Ekberg's 71, Lee's 78, Ni Cheilleachair's 80 and Contreras' 82.
With 18 holes remaining, the ThunderWolves remain within striking distance of the tournament lead. Westmont holds an eight-shot advantage over CSU Pueblo, while the Pack sits just three shots behind Westminster for second place.
CSU Pueblo will return to Powder Horn Golf Club Tuesday for the third and final round of the Travis Roy Memorial.
