ALPINE, Texas – The Colorado State University Pueblo women's soccer team opened its 2026 campaign Thursday with a 0-0 draw against Sul Ross State.

The ThunderWolves (0-0-1) held the advantage offensively throughout the match, finishing with a 13-8 edge in total shots and putting five attempts on goal.

CSU Pueblo Head Coach John Constable had high praise for his team's performance. "I appreciate the players efforts today versus a highly motivated Sul Ross State team on opening day. We worked hard and we were pretty solid without the ball as a team and created chances to win the game."

"We just couldn't find the net. We tried our best to win it but it wasn't meant to be. I thank my players for giving everything and we will watch the game film tomorrow and them move on to Angelo State.

Maya Bethelmie and Solange Depirou paced the Pack attack with four shots apiece. Depirou was especially active in the attacking third, placing three of her four attempts on goal.

Both teams generated four corner kicks in the contest, while CSU Pueblo was whistled for offsides twice.

Making her Pack debut in goal, Peppi Niemi turned in a strong performance between the posts. Niemi faced eight Sul Ross State shot attempts and recorded three saves to preserve the shutout, earning the first clean sheet of her collegiate career.

CSU Pueblo will remain in Texas for its next match as the ThunderWolves travel to face Angelo State on Saturday.
