PUEBLO, Colo. (March 4, 2026) - Colorado State University Pueblo's
Febe Wessels (Sr., Pretoria, South Africa) and
Dylan Sanders (Jr., Aurora, Colo.) have been named Pack Student-Athletes of the Week, presented by Chick-fil-A.
Wessels captured the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference title in the women's shot put at the 2026 RMAC Indoor Championships.
She registered a mark of 15.56 meters. Her throw set a new Western Colorado Fieldhouse record and ranks as the seventh-best throw in NCAA Division II history. The performance not only secured the conference crown but firmly positioned her among the nation's best heading into nationals.
Up next, CSU Pueblo now turns its attention to Virginia Beach and the NCAA Division II Indoor National Championships set for March 13-14.
On the men's side, Sanders and the men's basketball team has reached a season-high nine-game win streak after going unbeaten in two home wins in the regular season and secure the No. 3 seed in the RMAC Tournament.
For the week, Sanders shot 51.6 percent (16-of-31) from the field, 45.0 percent (9-of-20) from three-point range and 83.3 percent (10-of-12) from the free throw line. He also averaged 3.3 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 2.0 steals per game, finishing with a 2.3 assist-to-turnover ratio.
Sanders opened the week against Fort Lewis on Feb. 26, pouring in 16 points on 5-of-8 shooting, including a blistering 4-of-7 performance from beyond the arc. He added four assists and three rebounds in just under 25 minutes of action.
He followed that with his top scoring performance of the week against Adams State on Feb. 28, finishing with 22 points on 7-of-14 shooting. Sanders knocked down three triples and went 5-of-6 from the free throw line while adding five rebounds, two assists and two steals across 33 minutes.
Against the 6-seed Colorado School of Mines in the first round match-up on Tuesday, Sanders tallied 13 points, three assists and four steals. He shot 4-of-9 from the field and connected on two three-pointers to help pace the offense.
Up next, the Pack's season continues in the tournament on Friday as the ThunderWolves will take on 2-seed Colorado Mesa in a semifinal game at 7 p.m. in Spearfish, S.D.
