Men's Basketball Collects Home Win Over Chadron State, Moves Record to 15-7 on Season

Victory Was Pack's Sixth Straight at Home, 10th Overall Home Win of Season

PUEBLO, Colo. – Colorado State University Pueblo men's basketball team continued its hot play on its home court here Saturday afternoon as the ThunderWolves used a balanced offensive effort en route to posting a 74-65 victory over Chadron State in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference play action at Massari Arena.

With the win, which was the second consecutive for the Pack as they snapped a three-game losing skid on Thursday with a 71-53 win over 13th-ranked Black Hills State, CSU Pueblo improves to 15-7 overall and 9-5 in the RMAC, while Chadron State fell to 5-17 overall and 3-11 in league play. In addition, the Pack extended its home court win streak to six straight games, which is the third longest active home win streak in the RMAC and is now 10-2 at home this season with three regular season home contests remaining.

The win kept the Pack in fourth place in the league standings with three weeks left in the regular season. The Pack is tied for fourth in the standings with Adams State and Colorado School of Mines, who are also 9-5 in league play. Adams State was idle on Saturday, while Mines collected a 77-71 home overtime win against Westminster. The top eight teams in the league standings at the end of the regular season earn spots in the 2026 RMAC Tournament.

CSU Pueblo, who led 32-25 at the break, pushed its lead to as much as 20 points at 72-52 following two free throws from sophomore guard Mac Terry (Castle Pines, Colo./South Dakota Mines) with 3:29 left in the game. The Eagles, though, closed the game by scoring 13 of the final 15 points to cut the final margin to nine points.

After shooting 33 percent from the field and 31 percent from the 3-point line in the first half, the Pack shot 49 percent from the field and 36 percent (5-for-14) from the 3-point line after halftime to pull away from the Eagles.

Sophomore guard/forward Jordan Blair (Keller, Texas/Keller Central) paced the Pack with a double-double of 14 points and 10 rebounds, while junior guard Dylan Sanders (Aurora, Colo./Pearl River CC) added 12 points and redshirt junior guard Jaden Kennis (Windsor, Colo./MSU Denver) had nine points and four assists. All nine of Kennis' points came in the second half.

In addition, junior forward Kyren Allen (Commerce City, Colo./Trinidad State College) had eight points and four rebounds, while freshman guard Bryce Riehl (Colorado Springs, Colo./Mesa Ridge) added seven points and four steals off the bench and junior guard Cash Callaway (Pasco, Wash./South Mountain) was 2-for-3 from the 3-point line as he tallied six points off the bench.

For the game, the Pack held a 29-15 edge in bench points and also forced CSC into 15 turnovers that turned into 17 points off those turnovers for the Pack. The Pack also blocked a season-high tying six shots, including a career-high three blocks for redshirt sophomore guard/forward Corbin Garver (Colorado Springs, Colo./Air Academy).

The Pack opened the second half on a 24-13 run that stretched their halftime lead from seven points to 18 points at 56-38 following a 3-pointer from Callaway with 9:43 left in the game. The run began with a fast break dunk in the opening 21 seconds of the second half from Blair.

Following that run, CSC used an 11-5 run capped by two straight treys from Jovan Jovanovic to pull within 61-49 with 6:49 remaining. Jovanovic scored nine second half points for the Eagles, who tallied 40 points after halftime.

The Pack, though, responded with an 11-3 run capped by Terry's two free throws with 3:29 left to take a 72-52 lead.

Mack Keighran paced Chadron State with 15 points, while Zach Smith added 13 points and six assists and Blessing Adesipe had 12 points and 10 rebounds. Adesipe and Keighran combined to score 15 of CSC's 25 first half points.

The Pack finished the game shooting 41 percent from the field and 33 percent (10-for-30) from the 3-point line, while Chadron State shot 40 percent from the field and 37.5 percent (12-for-32) from the 3-point line. In the second half, CSC shot 52 percent from the field and 50 percent from the 3-point line.

CSU Pueblo held a 40-34 edge on the boards, including 12 offensive rebounds that led to nine second chance points. In addition to Blair's 10 rebounds, redshirt sophomore forward Ty Adam (Severance, Colo./Severance) had five boards, including three offensive boards and Terry had five boards.

The Pack had 19 assists and just nine turnovers, while CSC had 18 assists and 14 turnovers.

Both teams shot 70 percent or better from the free throw line as the Pack was 12-for-16 at the line, while Chadron State was 7-for-10 from the line.

The Pack will look to make it three wins in a row this coming Tuesday, Feb. 10 as they conclude their current three game home stand with a 7:30 p.m. contest against UCCS (12-10 overall, 7-7 RMAC). The Pack collected an 82-73 win at UCCS on Jan. 8.
