PUEBLO, Colo. (February 27, 2026) – The Colorado State University Pueblo softball team remains at home this week and continues Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) with a four-game series against Black Hills State, with a twin bill starting Saturday at 12 p.m. at Rawlings Softball Complex.
The Pack (6-8) are back in action after splitting their conference opening series against Chadron State. The Pack won the first game each day and dropped a pair of one-run games in each nightcap contests.
For her efforts, senior McKenna James (Windsor, Colo.) was named RMAC Pitcher of the Week after she delivered an outstanding two-way performance for CSU Pueblo against the Chadron State.
In the circle, James was dominant across four appearances, finishing the week with a 0.00 ERA over 10.1 IP. She allowed just three hits and no earned runs, holding opposing hitters to a 0.79 batting average. James struck out 15 batters while issuing only three walks, posting an exceptional 0.58 WHIP. She recorded one complete game shutout.
At the plate, James hit .438 for the series. She went 7-for-16 with four runs scored, a double and a home run, and four RBI, finishing with a .688 slugging percentage.
Caitlyn Cole (Sr., Merced, Calif.) had an outstanding performance and hit .500, going 8-for-16 at the plate. She scored a team-high seven runs and recorded three extra-base hits, including two doubles and a home run. Cole finished the weekend with 13 total bases and an .813 slugging percentage.
In addition to her power production, Cole was highly effective at getting on base, posting a .529 on-base percentage while drawing a walk and striking out just twice in 16 at-bats. She was also perfect on the base path, going 4-for-4 in stolen base attempts

Last season CSU Pueblo lost three-of-four games on the road in Spearfish, S.D.

Black Hills State Yellow Jackets (5-10, 2-2 RMAC))
Last time on the field: Black Hills State split its series against Adams State at a neutral site, played at Holy Family HS in Broomfield, Colo. The Yellow Jackets are led offensively by Sammie Kaufman-Warner with a .408 average. In the circle the Yellow Jackets are guided by Kaitlyn Geschwill (4-3, 4.16 ERA).
