No. 7 CSU Pueblo Men's Soccer Explodes for Eight Goals in Shutout Victory Over Adams State

ThunderWolves Record Highest Single-Game Goal Total Since at Least 2021, Remain Unbeaten Heading Into Top-15 Showdown With Fort Lewis

PUEBLO, Colo. (Oct. 8, 2026) – The No. 7 nationally ranked Colorado State University Pueblo men's soccer team delivered an offensive explosion Thursday evening at Art & Lorraine Gonzales Stadium, scoring four goals in each half en route to a commanding 8-0 shutout victory over Adams State University in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) action.

With the victory, the ThunderWolves improved to 9-0-2 overall and 3-0-2 in RMAC play, while the Grizzlies fell to 1-9-1 overall and 0-5 in conference action.

The eight-goal performance marked the Pack's highest single-game scoring output since at least the COVID-19-adjusted spring 2021 season, surpassing the seven goals scored in a 7-0 victory over Adams State on March 21, 2021.

Six different ThunderWolves found the back of the net Thursday, led by two-goal performances from Nick Cenek and Matty Parkes. João Lutz, Juan Pablo Orozco Soto, Alex Bailey and Alberto Barrios each added a goal as CSU Pueblo recorded a season-high eight goals and 31 shots.

The Pack wasted little time establishing its offensive presence, opening the scoring in the 15th minute when Lutz found the back of the net off an assist from Leonardo Vilchis at the 14:30 mark. The goal was Lutz's fourth of the season and gave the ThunderWolves an early 1-0 advantage.

Less than nine minutes later, Parkes doubled the lead with his fourth goal of the year at the 23:20 mark, finishing an opportunity set up by Archi-Blue Rodway.

Cenek then took over offensively, scoring twice in a span of just over three minutes to extend CSU Pueblo's lead to 4-0 heading into halftime.

The first of Cenek's two goals came at the 35:08 mark off assists from Logan Cozier and Modicai Jones. The junior forward struck again at 38:09, this time finishing a chance created by Silvio Termini to complete his brace and send the ThunderWolves into the break with a commanding four-goal advantage.

CSU Pueblo continued its offensive onslaught in the second half, adding two more goals in less than a minute.

Orozco Soto opened the second-half scoring at the 54:25 mark, converting his fourth goal of the season off Termini's second assist of the evening to make it 5-0.

Just 59 seconds later, Parkes added his second goal of the match at 55:24, pushing the ThunderWolves' advantage to 6-0.

The Pack capped its offensive showcase with two late goals from Bailey and Barrios, both of whom recorded their first goals of the season.

Bailey found the back of the net at the 82:14 mark off an assist from Barrios before Barrios turned around and scored just 46 seconds later at 83:00, finishing an opportunity set up by Brayden Sandoval to complete the 8-0 victory.

The ThunderWolves dominated the offensive statistics, outshooting Adams State 31-6, including a 15-4 advantage in shots on goal. CSU Pueblo also held an 8-0 edge in corner kicks.

Parkes led the Pack with five shots, including four on goal, while Cenek finished with four shots and two goals. Cozier also registered five shot attempts, while Lutz and Orozco Soto each contributed three.

Termini paced the ThunderWolves with two assists, while Vilchis, Rodway, Cozier, Jones, Sandoval, Barrios and the rest of the Pack's supporting cast helped fuel the offensive attack.

Defensively, CSU Pueblo recorded its fifth shutout of the season, limiting the Grizzlies to just six shots, including only one attempt in the second half.

Goalkeeper Vitor Hennig earned the start and victory, recording three saves in 77 minutes of action before Gianluca Suardi entered for the final 12:59 and added one save to preserve the clean sheet.

The victory extended CSU Pueblo's unbeaten streak to 11 matches to open the 2026 campaign under first-year head coach Thomás Pazo Tourinho.

Up Next: CSU Pueblo concludes its homestand on Sunday, Oct. 11, when the ThunderWolves welcome No. 14 Fort Lewis College to Art & Lorraine Gonzales Stadium for a highly anticipated Top-15 RMAC showdown. Kickoff between the ThunderWolves and Skyhawks is scheduled for 2:30 p.m.
