PUEBLO, Colo. — The Colorado State University Pueblo men's soccer team continued its climb in the national rankings Tuesday, moving up one spot to No. 7 in the latest United Soccer Coaches Top 25 Poll.
The ThunderWolves also remained No. 2 in the South Central Region in the Week 6 regional rankings, released Tuesday by United Soccer Coaches. CSU Pueblo (8-0-2, 2-0-2 RMAC) sits behind Midwestern State in the regional poll, while fellow Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference opponent Fort Lewis is ranked third.
The move to No. 7 continues a steady rise through the national rankings for the Pack. CSU Pueblo entered the Top 25 at No. 22 on Sept. 8 before moving to No. 21, No. 13 and No. 8 over the following three polls. The ThunderWolves' latest jump comes after extending their unbeaten start to 10 matches.
CSU Pueblo remained unbeaten last week during a pair of RMAC matches at Art & Lorraine Gonzales Stadium. The Pack opened the weekend with a 1-1 draw against No. 24 Regis before earning a 4-2 victory over South Dakota Mines on Sunday. Brandon Sanchez scored twice in Sunday's win, while Juan Pablo Orozco Soto and João Lutz each added a goal.
Through 10 matches, the Pack has outscored their opponents 21-7. CSU Pueblo has also posted four clean sheets while remaining unbeaten.
The Pack now turns its attention to teh final two matches of its four-game homestand. CSU Pueblo welcomes Adams State on Thursday at 7 p.m. before hosting a nationally ranked matchup against No. 14 Fort Lewis on Sunday at 2:30 p.m. at Gonzales Stadium. The ThunderWolves defeated Fort Lewis 3-1 earlier this season in Durango.
