PUEBLO, Colo. (January 8, 2025) - Colorado State University Pueblo wrestling will begin the new year with a weekend trip to Gunnison as the ThunderWolves are scheduled to compete Friday at the Western Colorado Open and on Saturday, the Pack will wrestle in the 35th Annual Tracy Borah Duals, both inside the Mountaineer Field House.
The Open on Friday is composed mostly of attending team's reserves and will give those programs attending the Duals the opportunity to bring their full arsenal for high level competition.
The Duals includes a pair of ranked teams and nearly a dozen wrestlers who have individual rankings in the NWCA Division II lists, including
Eddie Bowman (So., Trinidad, Colo.) at 141 pounds and
Jacob Myers (Fr., Castle Rock, Colo.) at 133 pounds.
Bowman, ranked 9th in the latest poll comes into the weekend with a team-high 12 wins, followed by Myers who sits 11th in his weight class and has nine wins this year.
The ThunderWolves are scheduled to battle Vanguard, Menlo (CA) and Minot State (N.D.) during the duals Saturday.
CSU Pueblo heads into the weekend after a strong showing at the 46th Midwest Classic from Myers who placed fifth at 133 to lead the team over the two-day event.
Myers posted seven wins, followed by Bowman with four and
Donn Greer (Sr., Soledad, Calif.) finished with a 3-2 mark.
Opponent Capsules
Vanguard is 2-3 entering the week and have dual losses against Western Colorado and Menlo. Their two victories came at the Desert Duals in Las Vegas, Nev., where they beat Division III programs from Pacific (Ore.) and Manchester (Ind.).
Menlo is 3-1 this season and has wins against Western Colorado, Vanguard and Concordia-Wisconsin.
Minot State enters the weekend with a 4-2 record, with both losses coming in duals against No. 9 St. Cloud State and No. 14 UMary.
No. 16 Adams State and No. 18 Colorado Mesa are also competing at the Duals.

- 149: No. 6 Alex Castaneda (Colorado Mesa)
- 157: No. 3 Aaden Valdez (Adams State), No. 7 Owen Cline (Colorado Mesa), No. 11 Cabral (Western)
- 197: No. 6 Gabe Carranza (Colorado Mesa)
