COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (January 27, 2026) - Colorado State University wrestler
Jacob Myers (Fr., Castle Rock, Colo.) has been named the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Wrestler of the Week after scoring the biggest victory of his young career, defeating No. 1-ranked Jason Henschel of No. 1 Central Oklahoma in dramatic fashion.
Myers earned the honor after posting a 7-4 sudden-victory win over Henschel, handing the nation's top-ranked wrestler his first loss of the season. The win came in a pivotal matchup against the top-ranked team in Division II and served as one of the most impressive individual performances of teh year for the ThunderWolves.
In the match, Myers showed resilience after surrendering an early take down. He answered with an escape and then secured a take down of his own to take a 4-3 lead after the first period. Henschel recorded the only point of the second period with an escape, and the third period went scoreless as both wrestlers battled through regulation tied 4-4.
Needing overtime to decide the bout, Myers wasted little time, scoring the match-ending take down in less than thirty seconds of sudden victory to seal the upset.
Up next, Pack wrestling remain at home and host Western Colorado on Thursday at 6 p.m. in a RMAC dual at Massari Arena.
