Sweeney-Spitzeck and Freeman Named Pack Student-Athletes of the Week, Presented by Chick-fil-A

PUEBLO, Colo. (January 21, 2026) - Colorado State University Pueblo's Ruby Sweeney-Spitzeck (Sr., Melbourne, Australia) and Xavier Freeman (Sr., Pueblo, Colo.) have been named Pack Student-Athletes of the Week, presented by Chick-fil-A.

Sweeney-Spitzeck led the Pack this past weekend and averaged 20.0 points in two games, including a heroic 29-point and career-high performance in Saturday's 82-78 overtime win over Regis.

Up next, the ThunderWolves will hit the road and play Thursday at Adams State before closing out the week on Saturday at New Mexico Highlands.

On the men's side, Freeman turned in a productive opening day at the Potts Indoor Invitational in Boulder.

He recorded a mark of 16.63 meters (54-6 3/4) in the men's shot put before following it up with a throw of 16.86 meters (55-3 3/4) in the weight throw.

Freeman advanced through the preliminary rounds in both events while competing against high-level regional competition. Freeman in the shot put finished in fifth place and was the highest Division II thrower in the field.

He also picked up a NCAA Provisional with his performance.

Freeman also was the highest DII performer in the field in the weight throw event.

Up next, the Pack travel south on I-25 and will compete at the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Invitational in Albuquerque. The two-day event gets underway Friday at 3 p.m. at UNM Indoor Facility.
