PUEBLO, Colo. - The Colorado State University Pueblo men's soccer team welcomed back 35 former student-athletes from various graduating classes for its annual alumni game. The event gave alumni the chance to reconnect with one another, engage with the current ThunderWolves' team, and celebrated the proud tradition of CSU Pueblo men's soccer.
The day featured a competitive 90-minute match, pitting the alumni - featuring former All-Americans, all-conference players, and team captains - against the current ThunderWolves squad.
Head Coach
Nick Blackwell reflected on the special day, saying, "What an amazing day with our football family here at CSU Pueblo. Being able to bring alumni ranging from so many different classes and providing our current student-athletes the ability to reconnect with the individuals that laid the foundation for where we are now was incredible."
Blackwell continued, "Being able to bring the alumni back and see how much it meant to them to share memories, relive the playing days, and just enjoy each other's company again was incredible. Time is the most valuable resource we have, and having time set for all of us to connect is something we shouldn't take for granted."
The event also emphasized one of the program's core principles: earning the jersey.
"Putting on our jersey is a privilege for our student-athletes, and each time we wear it, we honor the alumni who cam before us," Blackwell said. "Seeing the alumni put the jersey on again this past Saturday along with our current team gave me so much joy and pride to be part of this program. Thank you to all the alumni who joined us, and we look forward to next year's match!"
The CSU Pueblo men's soccer program looks forward to continuing this annual tradition, celebrating the legacy and community that make ThunderWolves soccer special.
The Pack are at home to begin the 2025 campaign and host St. Mary's on Thursday at 7 p.m. in the season opener and will welcome Sul Ross State on Saturday at 12 p.m. in another nonconference match at Gonzales Stadium.
