COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (Sept. 16, 2025) - The second Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Men's Soccer weekly awards have been announced and the Pack's
Leonardo Vilchis (Gr., Mexico City, Mexico) and
Esteban Gonzalez (Jr., Brussels, Belgium) have been recognized for the first time in their CSU Pueblo careers after they helped lead the Pack to a 1-0-1 week and remain unbeaten this young season.
Vilchis was named RMAC Defensive Player, while Gonzalez brought home RMAC Goalkeeper of the Week.
South Dakota Mines' Erik Castanon was named Offensive Player of the Week.
Vilchis tallied one assist and helped anchor the Pack defense to allow no goals and seven SOG in a pair of shutouts last week. Vilchils and Co. ended in a 0-0 draw in their first road game of the year Thursday at No. 22 Fort Hays State. The ThunderWolves faced 10 shots and five SOG.
In Saturday's 2-nil victory over Dominican (CA), Vilchis assisted on the first goal of the game in the 30th minute and helped to limit the Penguins to 10 shots and two SOG.
For Gonzalez at the net, he made seven saves in 180 minutes on the pitch. He collected two more clean sheets and now has three shutouts on the year.
Thursday at FHSU, Gonzalez tied his season-high with five saves against 10 shots and in the weekend finale at home against Dominican, he made two more saves and was able to stand tall for most of the match.
Gonzalez has 12 saves on the year and his unblemished Save Percentage puts him atop the league lead and he has not allowed a goal in 270 minutes of action.
No. 3 CSU Pueblo next heads west for a two-game swing in Oregon. Thursday, the Pack will take on Western Oregon and will finish the trip Saturday and play Saint Martin's in a neutral match at WOU in Monmouth, Ore.
