DENVER, Colo. (April 12, 2025) - The Colorado State University Pueblo softball team earned a split of its final two games at MSU Denver on Saturday, and salvaged a win in the last game of the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) series against the Roadrunners at Assembly Athletic Complex.
With the win in the series finale, CSU Pueblo maintains fourth position in the RMAC Standings and are 24-12 in conference play and 25-18 overall with eight games remaining.
On the day,
Emma Case (So., Loveland, Colo.) led the team with four hits including two runs and RBI. In the circle,
Mia Sanchez (Fr., Los Angeles, Calif.) picked up her 10th win of the season in game two and went the distance and allowed three runs on six hits to go with two strikeouts.
Game One recap
Starting the day, the ThunderWolves took an early 1-0 lead in the second when
Taylor Brower (Jr., Vacaville, Calif.) was hit by pitch with the bases loaded and earned herself a RBI.
MSU Denver evened the score in the next half inning and the Pack responded with a single run when
Madelyn Huerta (Jr., Azusa, Calif.) blasted a lead-off home run in the third to give the Pack the lead again.
The Roadrunners took their first lead with two runs in the bottom of the third and they would add to the lead with three more runs in the fifth.
The Pack plated another single run in the T6 on a RBI-ground out from
Juliannah Jimenez (So., Elk Grove, Calif.) put the deficit at 6-3 heading to the home half.
The potent-Roadrunner lineup put up five runs in the B6 and ended the game on a walk-off 3-run home run.
McKenna James (Jr., Windsor, Colo.) was tagged with the loss and drops to 12-9 on the year.
Game Two recap
In the weekend finale, CSU Pueblo's offense came alive after spotting the Roadrunners a 3-0 lead through the first three innings before the bats were woken.
The Pack got on the board in the T4 on a 2-run single to left by Jimenez got the ThunderWolves to within one run.
In the fifth, CSU Pueblo scored two unearned runs and took a 4-3 lead on a throwing error and wild pitch.
Sanchez continued to work effectively in the middle innings and held the Roadrunners to six hits in the game.
The Pack tacked on another run in the T6 on a RBI-double hit by
Caitlyn Cole (Jr., Merced, Calif.) and in the seventh, Case crushed a RBI-triple to center and gave the Pack a three-run cushion.
In the B7, Sanchez allowed the tying run to reach the plate and she would escape with a fly out to left field.
On Deck
CSU Pueblo returns home and will play its final home games of the regular season. The ThunderWolves welcome Colorado School of Mines and will begin a four-game RMAC series on Friday at Noon at Rawlings Softball Complex.
