SPEARFISH, S.D. – Colorado State University Pueblo men basketball appeared headed for an impressive Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference road win here Thursday over Black Hills State, but the Yellow Jackets used an 11-0 run over a span of three-plus minutes to turn a 59-55 deficit into a 66-59 lead en route to posting a 75-70 victory over the ThunderWolves at A2 Arena on the BHSU campus.
The loss was the Pack's third straight and ninth in its last 11 games to drop its record to 10-11 overall and 5-8 in the RMAC, while Black Hills State improved to 12-9 overall and 8-5 in the league. Despite the loss, the Pack remained tied with Westminster for ninth in the RMAC standings with seven games remaining in the regular season. The top eight teams at the end of the regular season advance to the RMAC Tournament.
BHSU's run was keyed by four missed shots and three turnovers by the Pack, including the 'Jackets capping the run with a driving lay-up by Jaeton Hackley, who paced BHSU with a career and game-high 22 points. The seven-point lead was the largest of the game for the Yellow Jackets, who have now won three straight games in the series.
Following BHSU's run, the Pack mounted a comeback as a trey from redshirt sophomore guard
Jaden Kennis (Windsor, Colo./MSU Denver) and a basket from senior guard
Armon Muldrew (Perris, Calif./San Bernardino Valley) brought the Pack within 66-64 with three minutes left in the contest.
After two free throws by Caleb Hearne gave BHSU a 68-64 lead, Muldrew hit two free throws to pull the Pack within 68-66, but a driving lay-up by Hackley gave BHSU a 70-66 lead with 1:59 remaining in the game.
Following Hackley's lay-up, Muldrew hit two more free throws to pull the Pack within 70-68 with 1:40 left in the game. The Pack would have three chances to either tie or take the lead, including Muldrew misfiring on a trey off an offensive rebound by freshman guard

After Muldrew's missed trey, Cam Lowe made three of four free throws to give BHSU a 73-68 lead with 19 seconds left. Senior forward

Denim Johnson (Omaha, Neb./Trinity Valley) tied a career-high with 13 points and added seven rebounds, while Blair chipped in with 12 points and five rebounds and Cooper finished with 11 points and five rebounds. With his 11 points, Cooper became the 28th member of the Pack's 1,000-Point Club as he entered Thursday's needing just six points for 1,000 career points and he got his 1,000th point on a lay-up with 4:54 left in the first half. Cooper has now scored 1,005 career points, which is 28th on the school's all-time list.

CSU Pueblo, though, would respond with a 12-7 run capped by Cooper's 1,000th-career point lay-up to take 35-29 lead, before BHSU used an 8-3 run to pull within 38-37 with 2:12 left in the first half. Johnson scored on a tip-in lay-up with 46 seconds left in the half to give the Pack its 40-37 halftime lead.

After Lowe and John Shanklin brought the home team within 57-55 with back-to-back baskets, the Pack used a pull jump shot by fifth-year senior
Brevin Walter (Las Vegas, Nev./South Dakota Mines) to take its 59-55 lead with 7:47 remaining in the contest.
In addition to Hackley's career-high 22 points, Lowe added 19 points and eight rebounds in the win, while former CSU Pueblo guard Tristan Huddle added 17 points and seven rebounds off the bench.
