Pack wrestling falls short in RMAC dual against Colorado Mesa; Three ThunderWolves beat ranked opponents

PUEBLO, Colo. (February 6, 2025) - The Colorado State University Pueblo wrestling team battled against No. 25 Colorado Mesa and fell 25-19 in a Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference dual on Thursday inside Massari Arena.

On the night, Pack freshman Eddie Bowman (Trinidad, Colo.) defeated No. 14 Oran Huff in the 133 pound match after earning a third period take down and seal the 8-7 dual victory.

Also in the match, Aaron Concepcion (Fr., Anchorage, Alaska) won by TF 20-5 over William Moneypenny in the 165 pound bout and Donn Greer (Jr., Soledad, Calif.) pinned the Mavericks' Tanner Baumgartner at 2:04 in the 184 pound match and at 197, Remington Winmill (R-So., Wendell, Idaho) earned a 19-4 TF win against Gabriel Caranza and earned five team points for the Pack.

The ThunderWolves went open to start the match at 125 pounds and in the first action of the night at 133, Bowman scored a second period take down and in the third, after electing the bottom position to start, Bowman wrestled into a two-point reversal to cut the lead to 6-5 with just over a minute to go.

In that time, Huff got an escape point and built a 7-5 lead and with the short time on the clock, Bowman earned a big take down to take the lead and would hold for the 8-7 decision victory.

At 165, Concepcion earned five take downs including a four-point near fall to secure a 20-5 TF win all before the third period.

For Greer at 184, he earned a first-period pin at 2:04 and earned six team points for the Pack.

The ThunderWolves earned another bout win at 197 when Winmill earned a 19-4 TF win in the third period and earned the Pack five more team points.

The Pack forfeit at 125 and 141, spotting the Mavericks twelve team points.

At 141, Cole Bennett (Jr., Grapevine, Tex.) lost by maj. 10-1 against Keyton Young and in the next action at 157, Cyruss Meeks (Sr., Casper, Wyo.) fell by maj. 10-1 against Owen Cline.

Solomon Arnds-Volcin (So., Colorado Springs, Colo.) fell in overtime 4-1 against Augustus Dalton at 174.

In the final match of the dual, Henry Sturn (So., Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif.) lost by a 7-2 decision against Tyler Doyle and secured the dual victory for the Mavericks.
