ThunderWolves fall in RMAC dual versus No. 16 Mines

PUEBLO, Colo. (January 24, 2025) - The Colorado State University Pueblo wrestling team suffered a 24-12 loss against No. 16 Colorado School of Mines on Friday in a Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) dual inside Massari Arena.

The ThunderWolves won four bouts in the dual. Eddie Bowman (Fr., Trinidad, Colo.), Cole Bennett (Jr., Grapevine, Tex.), Donn Greer (Jr., Soledad, Calif.) and Henry Sturn (So., Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif.) each were victorious in their respective matches.

The Pack began the match with a setback and registered a forfeit loss at 125 pounds, allowing Mines an early 6-0 advantage.

At 133 pounds, Bowman beat Trebor Moreno by a 7-3 decision. In the match, Bowman recorded take downs in each of the first two periods and earned an extra point for a stalling call against the Orediggers to seal the win.

Hayden Tuma (Fr., Boise, Idaho) wrestled at 141 pounds against No. 4 ranked Grayston DiBalsi and battled in a 7-3 defeat. Tuma scored his points in the first period with an early take down.

In the 149 pound match, Bennett battled Cole O'Brien from Mines and rebounded from an early first period take down with an escape and after a scoreless second period, Bennett started on bottom to begin the third period and was able to quickly escape and cut the deficit one point.

Midway through the last period, Bennett was able to get a take down and with more than a minute of ride time in his favor, Bennett earned a bonus point and a 6-3 victory.

At 157, Cyruss Meeks (Sr., Casper, Wyo.) lost 7-3 versus No. 11 Marcus Caro and at 165, Aaron Concepcion (Fr., Anchorage, Alaska) lost by fall at 0:52.

Solomon Arnds-Volcin (So., Colorado Springs, Colo.) fell 11-4 against No. 14 Wyatt Reisz at 174 pounds before Greer got the Pack back on track with a 6-1 win against Mason Diel in the 184 pound outing.

At 197, Remington Winmill (R-So., Wendell, Idaho) battled in a high scoring match against No. 12 Ryan Cody. Winmill earned two take downs and a couple of escape points but was unable to overcome a 15-11 defeat.

In the last match of the dual, Sturn got the best of Deandre Rucker and won 7-3. Take downs in each of the first and third period helped to guide Sturn in the win.
