Pack finish strong weekend with two dual wins at Tracy Borah Duals

GUNNISON, Colo. (January 11, 2024) - The Colorado State University Pueblo wrestling team wrapped up a strong weekend in Gunnison on the campus of Western Colorado University and took home a pair of dual wins Saturday at the Tracy Borah Duals.

On the day, CSU Pueblo posted six wins by fall and three TF wins in the two duals.

Seven Pack wrestlers finished 2-0 on the day. Rhys Sellers (Jr., Gallup, NM), Eddie Bowman (Fr., Trinidad, Colo.), Hayden Tuma, Kevin Boston (Fr., Omaha, Neb.), Cyruss Meeks (Sr., Casper, Wyo.), Aaron Concepcion (Fr., Anchorage, Alaska) and Donn Greer (Jr., Soledad, Calif.) all went unbeaten in their matches Saturday.

In the first match of the day, Sellers got the ThunderWolves out to a fast start at 125 with a big 21-4 TF victory over Marques Calapiz. Bowman earned a win by forfeit in the next bout to put the Pack ahead 11-0 in the dual.

At 141, Tuma pinned Jagvir Grewal in 0:28 seconds, adding six more team points.

Boston picked up a strong TF win and beat Ryan Hicks, 23-6 at 149 pounds and Meeks followed that up with a 7-3 decision win over Magnus McCrackin in the 157 pound match.

Concepcion earned the ThunderWolves six points on a win by forfeit at 165.

Solomon Arnds-Volcin (So., Colorado Springs, Colo.) fell by major decision 14-4 against Peter McCrackin before Greer got the ThunderWolves back on track with a 6-1 decision against Owen Gudmundson at 184 pounds.

At 197 pounds, Remington Winmill (R-So., Wendell, Idaho) scored a 12-4 major win over Arashk Rasti and in the final bout of the dual, Henry Sturn (So., Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif.) lost by a 10-4 decision against Sam Pereira.

Sellers again got the ball rolling in the right direction for the Pack and earned a pin fall win (1:36) over Hunter McCullough at 125 pounds.

At 133, Bowman picked up a 12-3 major victory against Caiden Pelc and at 141 pounds, Tuma secured a win by fall (1:37) against Braden Tatum.

In the 149 pound bout, Boston earned a 13-4 MD over Caelan Alderman and Meeks continued the win streak and posted an 11-5 decision against Dennis Virelli.

Concepcion had an easy time in his match at 165 against Nick Humphrys and earned a 20-4 TF victory.

Arnds-Volcin earned his first win of the day at 174 and pinned his opponent Dayton Fields at 4:24.

Greer picked up a win by fall (3:24) against Des Marshall at 184 pounds. 

Winmill suffered pin loss (5:45) against John Parker-Wilson at 197 before Sturn ended the dual with a win by fall (2:35) over Benjamin Valdes.

CSU Pueblo returns to action Wednesday and will battle Adams State and San Francisco State in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference duals in Alamosa.
