PUEBLO, Colo. (September 25, 2024) - The No. 9 ranked Colorado State University Pueblo men's soccer team will continue nonconference play this week and will play at No. 18 Fort Lewis on Thursday at Dirks Field in Durango before returning home on Sunday for a big match against No. 5 UCCS at Art & Lorraine Gonzales Stadium.
Thursday's matchup against Fort Lewis is set for 6 p.m. and the match on Saturday against UCCS is scheduled for 2:30 p.m.
The ThunderWolves are back on the pitch after posting two wins last week over Oklahoma Christian and Rogers State in matches played in Edmond, Oklahoma.
Against OCU, Shjon Andrews (Gr., Longmont, Colo.) scored the only goal of the contest during the 76th minute for the Pack. In the game versus Rogers State, Joey Joiner (Sr., Westminster, Colo.) scored for the first time this season and Giancarlo Pretto (Sr., Lajeado Rio Grande Do Sul, Brazil) added the go-ahead goal to propel the ThunderWolves.
At the net, Ruben Volkert (Gr., Baden-Württemberg, Germany) and Ryan Nun (So., Broomfield, Colo.) both had some minutes recorded between the posts. In the game against OCU, Volkert made one save and faced four shots.
On Saturday, Nun was called on to face the Hillcats and allowed a late goal and made one save against six shots.
Series History
CSU Pueblo and Fort Lewis have a long history within the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference. Historically, FLC has lead the series but the ThunderWolves have won two of the last three meetings, including a 2-0 win in last year's RMAC Conference Championship match.
Against UCCS, the ThunderWolves have won the last five outings and have allowed the Mountain Lions one goal in that span.
In Sight for the Pack
The ThunderWolves begin RMAC play next week on the road at MSU Denver and at Mines.
