ThunderWolves wrap up play at RJGA Palm Valley Classic

GOODYEAR, Ariz. (April 9, 2024) - The Colorado State University Pueblo men's golf team wrapped up the third round of play and finished in 13th place at the two-day event at the RJGA Palm Valley Classic, hosted by Western New Mexico at the Palm Valley Golf Club in Goodyear, Arizona.

Jeffrey Nelson (Jr., Commerce City, Colo.) paced the ThunderWolves and placed T-23rd overall and carded a 2-under 214. In round one, Nelson finished 1-under 71 and scored five birdies. He finished the tournament with eleven birdies.

Placing T-35th overall, Colt Tenpenny (So., Fulshear, Tex.) ended Even-par and scored 76-69-71-216 for the Pack. Tenpenny hit ten birdies in three rounds and during round two, he shot par or better and earned a one-under 71.

Next for the ThunderWolves, Jamie Roberts (Sr., Kinross, Scotland) earned a T-61st finish and scored 4-over 220. Roberts bounced back from a rough first two rounds and scored a team-best 69 for round three.

Archie Wyatt (So., Edinburgh, Scotland) earned a T-66th place finish with a 5-over 221 score.

Earning T-77th place, Paraic McGrath (Fr., Galway, Ireland) hit on eight birdies while Evan Smith (So., Pueblo, Colo.) placed T-100th overall and earned a +17 223 score.

Up next
CSU Pueblo returns home next week and will host the Southern Colorado Masters April 15-16 at the Pueblo Country Club. The tournament will be the final tune-up ahead of the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Championships set for the following week, April 21-23 in Henderson, Nevada.
