LAKEWOOD, Colo. (March 23, 2024) - The Colorado State University Pueblo softball team lost two games on the road at No. 8 Colorado Christian on Saturday, falling 6-2 in game one and dropped a 10-2 (5 inn.) decision in the series finale at All Star Park.
Game one recap
CSU Pueblo's the first run of the series came during the second at-bat of the ball game on a solo home run hit byÂ
Caitlyn Cole (So., Merced, Calif.). It is her ninth homer of the season.
Colorado Christian tied the game in the bottom of the first when lead-off hitter Kayla Middleton hit a home run for the Cougars.
The ThunderWolves plated another run in the second inning after
Darleen Falcon (So., Moreno Valley, Calif.) was hit by pitch to start the second. She would later end up at third base and scored on a double steal attempt to put the Pack ahead 2-1.
CCU jumped ahead in their next time on offense and scored three runs on five hits and built a 4-2 lead going to the third inning.
CSU Pueblo managed two base runners over the last five innings and the defense allowed back-to-back RBI hits and went to the seventh inning down 6-2.
CCU retired the side in the seventh and closed out the win.
McKenna James (So., Windsor, Colo.) took the loss and drops to 6-12 on the year.

In the series finale, the Pack totaled four hits and scored two runs in a 10-2 (5 inning) defeat.
CCU's offense quickly put up seven runs in the first two innings before the first run for the Pack came in the third inning.

Raelynn Rogers (Jr., Surprise, Ariz.) reached on a fielder's choice and would come around to score on a defensive error.
The Cougars continued to add to their lead with another run in the third and two more crossing the plate in the fourth before CSU Pueblo scored the final run in the fifth.
Delaney Barela (Sr., Pueblo, Colo.) hit a single with one out and would come around to score on a fielder's choice ground out from Cole.
Three Pack pitchers made an appearance in the circle.
Marissa Robertson (So., Rocklin, Calif.) suffered the loss and falls to 3-7 on the season.
Up next
CSU Pueblo (11-24, 9-15 RMAC) returns home next week and begins a four-game series against Fort Lewis starting Thursday at Noon at Rawlings Sports Complex. The teams will wrap the series with two more games on Friday starting at 11 a.m.
