GOLDEN, Colo. (February 8, 2024) - The Colorado State University Pueblo wrestling team dropped a Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference dual at Colorado School of Mines 24-17 on Thursday in Golden.
In the dual, the ThunderWolves took home four wins including a 17-2 tech fall win from
AJ Gunn (So., Evergreen, Colo.) over Elliot Kim at 141 pounds. Gunn made quick work of Kim, scoring a take down early in the first period and would add another take down and a four-point near fall before the end of the period.
Gunn added two more take downs before reaching the 15-point difference and the match ended at 4:30.
Decker Milender (Fr., Superior, Mont.) collected six team points at 125 with a forfeit by the Orediggers.Â
At 157,
Cyruss Meeks (Jr., Casper, Wyo.) earned a 5-3 victory over Jakob Smith. In the match, Meeks earned a one point escape in the second period and would add a three-point take down along with another escape to hold on for the win.
In the next match at 165,
Elijah Valdez (Sr., Colorado Springs, Colo.) defeated Tristin David 7-5. Valdez battled throughout the match and scored a first period take down and would add another in the next period.Â
In other matches,
Henry Sturn (Fr., rancho Santa Margarita, Calif.) suffered a 4-1 setback at 285 against Laith Ibrahim and
Donn Greer (So., Soledad, Calif.) lost 10-6 Â against Mason Diel at 184 pounds.
The ThunderWolves will stay on the road and compete at Chadron State on Saturday in Chadron, Nebraska.
