PUEBLO, Colo. (February 17, 2024) - The Colorado State University Pueblo wrestling team competed in its final home dual of the regular season, falling 29-8 against San Francisco State on Saturday inside Massari Arena.
In the dual,
Donn Greer (So., Soledad, Calif.) and
Ben Gould (Sr., Canyon Country, Calif.) registered the only wins for the ThunderWolves in their last outings ahead of the NCAA West Regionals on March 2, hosted by CSU Pueblo.
At 184, Greer wrestled against Kweli Hernandez-Maitre and after a scoreless first period, Greer went down 1-0 when Hernandez-Maitre started the period on bottom and earned an escape point.
Later in the period, Greer took a 3-1 lead after he earned a takedown with under a minute showing on the clock and was able to ride out the rest of the period and scored three team points for the ThunderWolves.
In the next bout at 197, Gould picked up five team points after posting a 17-1 tech fall victory over Laith Gilmore.
Gould recorded four takedowns and a two-point reversal to help in the dominating victory.
SFSU registered six decision wins and at 174,
Solomon Arnds-Volcin (Fr., Colorado Springs, Colo.) suffered a 8-7 loss against Gage Mettler and at 165,
Elijah Valdez (Sr., Colorado Springs, Colo.) was unable to overcome his opponent, Kyle Botelho in a 4-2 defeat.
