ThunderWolves reach third NCAA Final Four after 1-0 win over Fort Lewis

PUEBLO, Colo. (December 7, 2024) - For a third year in a row, the Colorado State University Pueblo men's soccer team has clinched a spot in the NCAA Final Four after defeating Fort Lewis College, 1-0 in the NCAA South Central Regional Final on Saturday at Art & Lorraine Gonzales Stadium.

With the win, CSU Pueblo advance to the NCAA Final Four for a third year in a row.

Dylan Zavatini (Gr., Santa Catarina, Brazil) scored the lone goal of the contest in the 39th minute for the ThunderWolves.

CSU Pueblo dominated the game offensively and recorded 16 shots, led by four shots from Caio Oliveira (Sr., Espigao d'Oeste, Brazil). Three of his four shots landed on frame.

Jack Pascoe (Sr., Barry, Wales) and Jose Bustamante (Jr., Davie, Fla.) both finished with three shots in the game.

In the first half, CSU Pueblo fired off eight shots and possessed the ball 56% of the half. The Pack recorded four corners.

Zavatini found the back of the net after a throw in by Ignatius DeMark (Sr., Phoenix, Ariz.) from inside the Pack's offensive zone. DeMark launched the ball inside the 6-yard box and Bustamante was able to keep the ball in play and Zavatini was able to get enough of his body on the ball and push it into the net for the ThunderWolves.

In front of a crowd of nearly 700 fans, CSU Pueblo used the energy adn kept the Skyhawks to only four shots in the first half and no shots allowed in the second period.

At the net, Ryan Nun (So., Broomfield, Colo.) made two saves against four shots by FLC. Two of the Skyhawk shots landed on frame and was hauled in by Nun.

CSU Pueblo and the rest of the final four teams will now be re-seeded entering next week's Final Four match-up. The ThunderWolves will play Thursday in the National Semifinal contest at the Sportsplex at Matthews, in Matthews, N.C.
