USAF Academy (December 17, 2024) - The Colorado State University Pueblo wrestling team opened its dual portion of the season and traveled north and battled against Division-I Air Force Academy, falling 42-0 to the Falcons on Tuesday inside Clune Arena at the Academy.

In the dual, CSU Pueblo suffered three decision losses, along with three falls and three MD and got much needed experience against top competition before the start of conference play in January.

In the first match-up Tuesday at 125 pounds, Rhys Sellers (Jr., Gallup, NM) had arguably the best outing for the ThunderWolves and battled against his opponent Nico Tocci in a 10-9 loss. Sellers recorded three take downs in the bout.

Eddie Bowman (Fr., Trinidad, Colo.) was up next at 133 pounds and battled Gavin Caprella to a 10-4 final, while Aaron Concepcion (Fr., Anchorage, Alaska) scored seven points in a 10-7 loss against Andrew Harmon in the 141 pound match.

The middle round match-ups in the dual ended in favor of the Falcons by either a MD victory or win by fall.

At 184 pounds, Donn Greer (Jr., Soledad, Calif.) fought against Gage Musser and lost by an 8-3 decision.

In the last match of the dual, Henry Sturn (So., Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif.) lost 7-3 against Antonio Ramos.

CSU Pueblo will head to Las Vegas, Nevada and compete at the Desert Duals on Saturday before going on a three-week holiday break. The ThunderWolves are set to take on Minnesota State, Menlo, Vanguard (Calif.) and Arizona Christian at the duals this weekend.
