MSOC 2024 Opening Weekend

Men's soccer welcomes Regis and SD Mines for final homestand of regular season

PUEBLO, Colo. (October 30, 2024) - The No. 16 ranked Colorado State University Pueblo men's soccer team will wrap the home portion of the regular season this week with a pair of Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference games beginning Thursday with a pivotal match-up against Regis starting at 4 p.m. at Art & Lorraine Gonzales Stadium. The Pack will close the weekend and celebrate Senior Day on Sunday versus South Dakota Mines starting at Noon.

The games will be part of a doubleheader at Gonzales Stadium as the women's team will follow the men's game on both days.

The ThunderWolves are back on the pitch and improved their record to 11-3-1 overall and 6-1 in league play after going 2-0 in a pair of road games last week.

For the week, Jose Bustamante (Jr., Davie, Fla.) netted two goals, while senior midfielder Caio Oliveira (Espigao d'Oeste, Brazil) tallied four points and scored one goal and two assists for the ThunderWolves.

Shjon Andrews (Gr., Longmont, Colo.), Tobi Osifodunrin (Sr., Brighton, Colo.) and Dylan Zavatini (Gr., Santa Catarina, Brazil) each scored goals on the weekend.

CSU Pueblo picked up a 4-1 win last Thursday at Westminster and followed it up with a 2-1 win Sunday at Colorado Mesa.

Entering the final weekend and with three matches to go, CSU Pueblo sits in second place overall with 18 conference points, one-point behind Regis and two points ahead of third-place UCCS.

On Sunday, Regis and UCCS will battle it out in Colorado Springs.

At the net, Ruben Volkert (Gr., Baden-Württemberg, Germany) continues his strong season and currently holds a .880 Goal-Against Average, second best in the RMAC.

Series History
Dating back to the 2007 season, CSU Pueblo is 7-21 against Regis. The last win for the ThunderWolves was on Oct. 2, 2022, a 2-0 win in Pueblo.

Against SD Mines, the Pack are 8-0 versus the Hardrockers since their inception in 2015.

The ThunderWolves will finish the regular season on the road next Wednesday, Nov. 6 at UCCS.
