Men's Golf finish third after posting 5-under final round at RJGA Shootout

MESCALERO, N.M. (September 26, 2023) - The Colorado State University Pueblo men's golf team had a strong third and final round at the RJGA South Central Regional Shootout and finished in third place, scoring a 5-under 283 on Tuesday at the Inn of the Mountain Gods Golf Course.

The ThunderWolves tied with team winner West Texas A&M for the best third round score, landing eight strokes behind the Buffs. Finishing in second place, Colorado Christian ended 5-under, two shot ahead of the Pack.

Sangha Park from University of Texas Permian Basin secured the medalist honor and posted a 10-under 206 through 54 holes.

CSU Pueblo senior Jamie Roberts (Kinross, Scotland) had his best round of the tournament on Tuesday, shooting a 3-under 69, vaulting into a T-5th place overall.

Roberts carded scores of 72-70-69-211 and recorded 14 birdies for the ThunderWolves.

Finishing in 8th place, reigning RMAC-Golfer of the Week, Colt Tenpenny (So., Fulshear, Tex.) carded a 2-under 70 coupled with his first two round scores of 73-69 for a total of 212.

Tenpenny registered 15 birdies including a tournament-high seven during round two.

Competing as an individual, Conner Moberly (Jr., Colorado Springs, Colo.) had his best outing of the fall and finished T-13th, moving up six spots during the final 18 holes played.

Moberly ended even-par (73-71-72-216), earning 11 birdies including three in Tuesday's final round.

Landing T-24, Paraic McGrath (Fr., Galway, Ireland) scored a +4 220 (74-70-76) and teammate Tyler Tyson (Jr., Arvada, Colo.) went up twelve spots to finish T-30 at 6-over 222.

Archie Wyatt (So., Edinburgh, Scotland) moved up ten spots to place T-35 at 7-over 223 and recorded a tournament-high four birdies on Tuesday.

Other Pack players competing as individuals, Callum Kenneally (Fr., Duns, Scotland) placed T-35 with a 223 (+7) and Evan Smith (So., Pueblo, Colo.) ended T-62 with a 20-over 236.

CSU Pueblo will take the next couple of weeks off before returning to the course Oct. 16-17 and compete at the Otter Invitational, hosted by Cal State Monterey Bay in Seaside, Calif.
