Women's Golf Finishes Ninth Overall at RJGA Shootout at Estrella

Severin Shoots Even-Par 144 to Finish Tied for Ninth Individually

GOODYEAR, Ariz. – Colorado State University Pueblo women's golf concluded play here Tuesday in its second tournament of the 2023 fall season by firing a 22-over par 588 for 36 hole to post a ninth-place finish out of 14 teams at the  RJGA Shootout at Estrella held at the Golf Club of Estrella.

The ThunderWolves, who shot a 14-over par 302 in Monday's first round, recorded an eight-over par 296 in Tuesday's final round of action at the event hosted by Western New Mexico University.

Cal State East Bay took home the team title at the event after shooting an 8-over par 584 for 36 holes to win by four shots over runner-up Texas A&M-International, who shot a 12-over par 588. Cal State East Bay fired rounds of 299 on Monday and then carded a 3-under par 285 in Tuesday's final round, while Texas A&M-International shot rounds of 296 and 292.

Leading the way for the Pack was senior Kylie Severin (Aurora, Colo./Vista Peak Prep), who shot a final round score of 3-under par 69 to finish the two-day event with an even-par 144 for 36 holes. Severin finished in a three-way tie for ninth place as she carded rounds of 75 and 69. Her final round score of 69 was tied for the second-lowest of day behind a 68 shot by Western New Mexico's Brooklyn Maes.

Cal State-LA's Daniela Andrade took home medalist honors as the event as she carded a 4-under par 140 for 36 holes to win by one shot of MSU Denver's Isabelle Botero, who shot a 3-under par 141. Andrade opened the tournament with a 1-under par 71 and then carded a 3-under par 69 in the second round.

For the event, 11 golfers in the field of 74 shot par or better for the tournament with 16 players shooting par or better in Tuesday's final round of action.

Freshman Lisa Ekberg (Kungsbacka, Sweden/Aranäsgymnasiet) was the Pack's No. 2 finisher at the event as she followed up her opening round 75 with a 1-over par 73 in the final round to finish with a 4-over par score of 148 to post a tie for 19th place overall.

CSU Pueblo's first round leader, junior Zoey Rodriguez (Pueblo, Colo./Pueblo South) struggled in Tuesday's second round as she shot a 78 to finish in a tie for 29th place with a 6-over par 150. Rodriguez was in a tie for seventh place after shooting an even-par 72 in the first round.

The fourth and final counter for the Pack was junior Anju Ogi (Arvada, Colo./Arvada West), who shot a 36-hole total of 12-over par 156 to finish in a tie for 53rd place overall. Ogi shot a first round score of 80, before firing a 4-over par 76 in Tuesday's final round.

CSU Pueblo's fifth and final competitor at the event was sophomore Freya Constable (Edinburgh, Scotland/Boroughmuir), who followed up her opening 85 with an 84 in the final round to finish in a tie for 72nd place with a 169 for 36 holes.

The Pack will return to the course on Oct. 2-3 as they travel to Amarillo, Texas, to compete in the West Texas A&M Invitational, which will be held at La Paloma Golf Club.
